MID November - 2000

Tuesday November 21.......

Lord! Again I say....Where does the time go????

It continues to rain, there are floods to the north and south of us, we, so far, have been lucky. But the grass is growing at a great rate of knots and after only a week needs mowing again... I don't have the time ... grrrrr. OK I could be doing it instead of writing this but it's sprinkling... so I can't *S*

The only reason I've found time for this is that my car is in for a service and am without wheels for a while today... aren't you all so very lucky *S*.

Good news is.... I got my funds last Wednesday evening. No-one can tell me how to invest, spend, save, any more. YIPPEE!! I'm FREE!!

Our travel plans have proved a bit of a problem because of the time of year that we'll be in the States. To my Canadian friends, I'm so sorry, but the travel agent just couldn't get us on any flights in or out of Canada... they are booked out over the Christmas period, We ditched the China trip to try to fit you all in BUT it's not working. I can't irritate her any more (though she's taking it well) and I am accepting whatever she and the guy who is helping her with our arrangements can do to stay as close as possibly to our last 'original' plan.

These are the places we are going to get to when I last spoke with them, and the order in which we will be visiting these places.

Omaha (Neb), Orlando (Fl), New York (NY), Boynton Beach (Fl). Columbia (SC), New Orleans (L), Houston (Tx), San Francisco (CA), Los Angeles (CA) via the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas; San Diego (CA); Tiajuana (Sp??) (Mexico); back to LA then Hawaii and home ... YUK!!

We'll be away 50 days.

So, I'll be able to catch up with a few friends when we hit those places. We might do a Canada trip later and catch up with my Canadian friends and those American friends who I will sadly miss this time.

Mum is really disappointed because she wanted to meet her pen pal in Nova Scotia who she's been writing to for 60 years. But she's handling it well... says 'it just wasn't meant to be', but won't let it spoil our holiday.

WEIGHT! I have discarded 30 pounds so far! How did I ever let all that weight accumulate??? I have more to lose (without suffering or becoming anorexic - I have more sense than that) and I have no intention spoiling the months of hard work while travelling. I hope to weigh a little less on the flight home *S*.

I splurged! Got myself a Christmas present,,,, a digital camera! I got all the stuff to go with it too of course and a 64meg disk to hold 200 photos. Jason, my son, has the Manual for it, checking it out so he can tell me in simple terms how to operate it. I already had a go... took a photo of Smudge and another of Mum with an Ice Cream in front of her face *S* and I've found out how to wipe them... hope I don't do that by accident when I'm away :-(

I got Jared a new camera for Christmas. (NOT DIGITAL) He's taken a photo of the cat and his Dad so he 'won't forget what they look like' while he's away. Isn't that precious *S*

He's been a horror this last couple of weeks, which has been really unusual for him. He's slowly returning to normal because he was told he'd be left behind if he didn't smarten up his act quickly. I think he now realises a little what a huge excursion he's going on. It's starting to sink in.

We have 24 days left before we're sitting on that plane heading outa here! It's coming too quickly, I'm nowhere near being prepared. Haven't even had time to copy all my files from my C Drive yet so that the technician can wipe the drive and reload all my programs. I need to get to it because I need my Outlook Express fixed... I miss it. I've managed to hoodwink the computer so I can at least keep my browser open.

Jason is going to house sit for us. That way the dogs (2), cat and fish won't die from starvation or thirst (I hope). This also means I can contact him easily and Jared can talk to him while we're away without having to call him on his mobile phone (cell phone). See.... I know all the different words you guys use over there in the States *S*

No photos this time... I have some, but no time right now to scan them and put them up here. Needless to say I'll have heaps when we get back from the trip and YES, I'm going to bore you all with them (grin).

I have a travel book so I can keep note of what happens and I have all your email and regular addresses in it along with your phone numbers. So, if I can't see you I'll still be keeping in touch. I'll send you all my HOTMAIL address just incase you want to leave a message for me and I'll try to escape my mother (the computer hater *S* ) to get to a machine to check if I have email and to send messages when I can. That goes for you guys I'm leaving here in OZ as well.

OK., gotta go for now and get on with either things to do with the trip or fixing this darned computer. Jared has his end of year Speech night tonight and I have to go look out something to wear.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, those of you who live in the States and I hope my Canadian friends HAD a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I'll be doing maybe one more page in this Journal before I go (aren't you lucky *S*) So until then, Be kind to each other,

Catch you later,

PS: I would like to hang all those freaks out there in Cyberland who have nothing better to do with their time but take the pleasure out of the Internet by developing and sending viruses and worms.

Jamie
