End August - 2000

August 31.......

My ex husband, David found this photo and took great delight in sending it to me *S*. David, his wife Dot (Dorothy) and our family have remained friends over the years. Life is to short to fill the days with animosity and thoughts of what "might have been". What a great pity other members of the family didn't think the same way as David, Dot and I, they've missed so much.

Anyway, I was (circa) 21 when this was taken at Bondi Beach in Sydney. I got my 7 year old grandson Jared to have a look at it and I said,

"Nanny used to be a 'good sort' when she was young... don't you think so Jared??"

To which this darling little treasure of mine replied, while hugging the life out of me,

"Nanny... you're still a 'good sort' !!"

Don't you just love him *S*

Well, the Will is still not settled but everyone has tried to make things easier for me, yes, even the Protective Office... can you believe it??

The have a fellow in the Deceased Estates Office section of the OPC who is a gentleman. He's only been with them 2 months therefore he's not like the rest of them and I hope he never becomes like the rest. He spent ages with me on the phone explaining probate and how it works and he organised funds for me while everything is waiting to be settled.

They still haven't notified me that the Mortgage is null and void and I want my Title Deeds back. It seems that the solicitor hired by the OPC who drew up the original mortgage (which wasn't used) sent them a bill to get paid for his work. Well, being slack as they are, they hadn't got around to it, before my husband passed away. He wants over $500. The OPC also insisted in using the Queensland Public Trustee when the mortgage was signed and they did the settlement with the bank from our funds. They too sent the OPC an account for their work, which hasn't been paid.

You see, had my husband not passed away, these accounts would have been paid from OUR funds, even though I didn't appoint these people. BUT George's passing mucked this up! The solicitor from the OPC sent me the accounts and a 'nice' letter saying that he had suggested they contact me to receive payment. LOL!!!!

What chance do you think they have of EVER getting paid by me! I didn't hire them! They weren't working FOR ME, therefore I think if they have any brains at all they'll write off the debts, because I'm not paying!

Remember I said the solicitor who sent his account to the OPC to be costed, bypassing me completely was sending his 'sidekick' around to deliver his $10,000 account to me? Well, he turned up last Friday week. Before he got into the house I asked if I was being charged for his visit *S*, he assured me I wasn't. Then within 5 minutes he told me he didn't want any arguements about the account or he'd leave and never comne back. Like I cared!

Then he told me his boss expected to be paid by the NEXT Friday or he'd take me to court! Threat! I told him to go back and jog his boss's memory... I have in writing where he agreed to wait until funds were released before expecting payment. Then this DORK asked me if I would be willing to take a MORTGAGE out on my home to pay the account now that there's no longer any encumbrances on it!!! RIGHT!! I told him to GET LOST!

Since then I sent a fax requesting copies of some material I hadn't seen, before I could do anything about settling the account. That hasn't provoked any response from him. I also went to see my current solicitor today to see if I had a case to take to the Law Society. It appears I have, so that's the next thing on my agenda.

There's been reports in the Sydney Morning Herald about some of the findings on the Inquiry into the Public Guardian and Office of the Protective Commissioner. You won't believe what these animals do to defenceless people. Read all about it HERE or click on the link below.

Well, that's another month gone! Whoosh!

What happened to all the time I used to have up my sleeve to work on my web sites???? Tidying up loose ends I guess. Trying to get things done around here. The pool's been leaking... I've been getting quotes on getting it fixed. I've been getting sleep instead of sitting up all night at this machine. My priorities are changing... hey!! so is my weight!

I've lost 13 1/2 pounds or 6kg in 3 weeks!!!! Yippee!!!

I still have lots to go but I have the motivation and incentive now. I already feel better but once it's all gone then I'll be happy.

Well, I guess that's all for now.... who knows what the weekend will bring. It's Father's Day here this Sunday. Jared has bought a heap of raffle tickets at school for a Father's Day Raffle. He figures he's going to win first prize, since he won the Mother's Day Raffle last May. I've tried to explain that it doesn't matter how many tickets you buy, you just have to take your chances along with everyone else. BUT he is still bound and determined that he's going to win! We'll see tomorrow..... So, I'll....

Catch you later,

Jamie
