CHRISTMAS BELL PULL

This tutorial was created by Jemima ~ August 2003

You will need the 'Pull1' and 'Pull2' Tubes
Which can be downloaded here
I've also included the 'partridge' tube *S*





You may also need this GOLD Pattern
if you don't have one of your own,



*************************************************



Open up a new image 150 x 420
Transparent Background

Go to LAYERS >>> New Raster Layer

DOUBLE CLICK on your SELECTION TOOL
Use these settings



Click OK

FLOOD FILL with any colour (I chose RED)




DESELECT


Go to LAYERS >>> New Raster Layer

Open up the "Pull1" tube
Right click on the title bar and
select COPY from the drop down options

Right click on the title bar of your 'Bell Pull' image and
select PASTE AS NEW SELECTION from
the drop down options.

Move the selection to the base of the red rectangle
as shown below




With your SELECTION TOOL
draw a rectangle as shown below




Click inside the selected area.
This will cause the 'Pull1" image to be selected.

Go to your LAYER PALETTE and
Close Layer1 by clicking on the 'glasses'
then click on Layer2 to make it active.




Go to LAYERS >>> Merge >>> Merge visible


Hit your DELETE key.
DESELECT


With your LASSO tool




carefully select the cutout area as shown below..
you may have to ZOOM in to do this.



Hit your DELETE key.
DESELECT.

Repeat this for the right side of the image.



Now... if you ZOOM in on this section
you will see some stray pixels.





With your ERASER tool and
using the following settings



erase the stray pixels.


Go to LAYERS >>> New Raster Layer

Open up your "Pull2" tube.
Click on the title bar and
select COPY from the drop down options.

Click on the title bar of your Bell Pull image and
select PASTE AS NEW SELECTION
from the drop down options.

Move into place as shown below.





Go to LAYERS >>> Merge >>> Merge visible

Hit your DELETE key.
Again there will be stray pixels



With your LASSO tool
Using same settings as before
carefully select the cutout area as shown below..
you may have to ZOOM in to do this.



Hit your DELETE key
DESELECT

You now have the shape for your Bell Pull
On the next page we will decorate it *S*
