Colour to Target

You will need the following to complete this tutorial

Materials

RIGHT CLICK & Save in a folder on your computer

Plugins

NONE

Open up the "Stepford_Wives_Lisel_Ashlock.jpg"
WINDOW >>> DUPLICATE
Close the original Image

LAYERS >>> Promote background layer

Choose your FREEHAND SELECTION Tool ... use these settings ....

... to select the hat in the bottom right corner of the image..
don't worry about the RH side of the hat not being exact.

Select the CHANGE TO TARGET brush

..

Select a colour in your MATERIALS PALETTE (foreground). I chose PURPLE ( #800080 )

Colour in the selected area ... DESELECT

There is still the RH side to colour...



Change the SIZE to 25 and colour in the last section.

Let's make the dress a matching colour.

Select your FREEHAND SELECTION Tool and select the RH side of the dress,
then, depress your SHIFT KEY to select the LH side of the dress at the same time.



Select the CHANGE TO TARGET brush... Change the SIZE to 50 and colour in.
DESELECT
If you missed any bits, reduce the size and colour in.



Continue in this manner until all the image is coloured.

NOTE: The more times you go over a section with the COLOUR TO TARGET brush
the brighter it will become.

The next section I did was this hat and I coloured it GREEN ( #004040 )
(even though it looks blue *S*)

..


Now to her dress.... using the same colour.
Remember to DESELECT once the main areas are coloured
and reduce the SIZE to colour the missed bits.

The next section I did was this hat and dress at the same time
and I coloured them BRIGHT GREEN ( #00FF00 )

...


The next section I did was this hat and dress at the same time
and I coloured them BRIGHT YELLOW ( #FFFF00 )


...


The next section I did was this hat and dress at the same time
and I coloured them BRIGHT RED ( #FF0000 )

...

All that is left now is the background...
I chose WHITE as the colour, which actually ends up GREY.
