I wrote this for Jared's 1st Grade ( 1N ) teacher, Mrs Neilsen, at the end of 1998. She was a wonderful, caring teacher with all the children, during their first scary and exciting year at school.

M emories come and memories go, but
R ight now they're clear in my mind'
S oon I'll move on, but be certain that

N ever will I have a teacher so kind.
E very gift that you gave me
I s locked in my head, even though
L ots of times it may not seem so.
S omehow you managed to prepare me, for
E ach hurdle the future might show.
N aughty Cloud, I managed to avoid, that's sure

G iven, I sometimes was under much pressure.
R eading a gift that will always endure
A nd Writing, a gift I will treasure.
D ancing and Acting, Show and Tell,
E ach talent you drew from my depths.

O nly we knew the "butterflies" that I felt
N o one but you could banish the fear.
E ach day's experience will soon be forgotten, but

N estled somewhere deep in my soul

I s the joy you have given and the doors you have opened

W hile leading me out of the fold.
I head to the future one step at a time,
L iving the lessons you taught me,
L et's not forget bugs, fish, toads and the like

M any creatures I hid but you caught me!
I 'll remember the patience and love that you have
S o long as my memory will allow.
S ince we all grow up and forget with time

Y outhful pleasures and joys that abound.
O ver the years I'll continue to grow
U nder the influence of your kindness and love.
