DECEMBER 1999

2nd Grade

Oh Lord, what was ahead of me? I dreaded the thought of school
without my beloved Mrs Neilsen to guide and teach the rules.
But you soon won me over and became my trusted friend,
A year of sharing and caring, both with broken hearts to mend.

A year of learning and growing. with my Nanny in tow as well,
searching for hours, the internet to create my Show and Tell.
We had frogs, bugs, butterflies, silkworms, spiders, and more
Magic gardens and guppies and crawlies by the score

I improved in maths and reading, got awards for work well done
Loathed the extra tuition but it must have sunk in.... some.
I often got distracted, had other things on my mind
but your kindness and understanding saved me being left behind.

You've given an ear to listen, no matter how trivial the tale,
you knew, that to us it was important and you'd never fail
to give an arm for support incase we might fall
and taught us pride so that we will always 'walk tall'.

You've been a voice, in teaching us to laugh and talk and sing,
inlaying new found confidence on which our future swings.
When all seemed overwhelming you've given your gentle hand,
to touch our tiny hearts and our hurts and sorrows mend

We made it through the year with hardly a scratch at all.
Though sometimes my behaviour was a little 'off the wall'
I even managed to earn some awards along the way.
Tell me... are the tissue wads still in the toilet today?

So, dear Miss Campion, even though you're my teacher no more,
You'll never be forgotten and I know there's always an open door
if I should need your help or a cuddle sometime in the future.
This time we've shared, you've been more than just a teacher.

You're not just my teacher, you're my friend

I'll miss you Miss Jane Campion.
