Working
with Black and White Clipart

Black-and-white clip
art can be tricky to copy and
paste.
If you try to paste it onto a colored
image, you end up with several stray
white pixels to clean up. Next
time, try this trick:
Open your clip-art image, and increase
its color depth to 16.7 million
colors.
Now click on the Wand tool in the Tool
palette and click on a white part of the
image.
Go to the Selections menu and choose
Modify, Select Similar.
This will select everything white in the
clip art.
Next, choose Invert from the Selections
menu
From the Edit menu, you can Copy and then
Paste As A New Layer onto your new
background.
Finally, all you need to do is clean up
the stray white pixels.
Simply go to the Layers palette and
change the blend mode of your clip-art
layer to Multiply.
Click on the arrow next to Normal in
your Layer palette to select the
blend mode. All the white pixels will
disappear.
