CUT OUTS USING SHAPES
PSP8 to PSPX3

Materials

H@nne_poupool.psp

Beach template-----Laufey.psp
MB_Boris-bathing_AP_9-03~pjs.pspimage
Save to a folder on your computer

goldenbeads.bmp
Save to your PSP Patterns folder
PSP8: C:\Program Files\Jasc Software\Paint Shop Pro 8\Patterns
PSP9: C:\Program Files\Jasc Software\Paint Shop Pro 9\Patterns
PSPX: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X\Patterns

VIEW >>> RULERS

In your MATERIALS PALETTE load
goldenbeads pattern in the foreground
using these settings



Load GREEN "
#95bdb5" in your background


Open a new image 500 x 500
Transparent background
PSPX - X2: Colour Depth = 8bits/channel
PSPX3: Colour Depth RGB = 8bits/channel

Flood fill with
GREEN

Select your PRESET SHAPES tool
Locate the
AltemusBorders4



Use these settings



Load BLACK in your background
Null your Foreground


LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Starting at 50 pixels across and 50 pixels down
drag your cursor to
450 pixels across and 400 pixels down and release

SELECTIONS >>> SELECT ALL
SELECTIONS >>> FLOAT
SELECTIONS >>> DEFLOAT


SELECTIONS >>> Load/Save Selection >>> Save Selection to Alpha Channel



Click SAVE

On your image... hit your DELETE key (your shape will disappear)

SELECTIONS >>> Load/Save Selection >>> Load Selection from Alpha Channel



Click the Load button

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> CUTOUT




LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER


SELECTIONS >>> INVERT

Flood fill with the gold pattern



EFFECTS >>> EDGE EFFECTS >>> ENHANCE

SELECTIONS >>> INVERT

SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 2
SELECTIONS >>> INVERT
EDIT >>> CLEAR




SELECTIONS >>> INVERT

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> DROP SHADOW



DESELECT

LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE DOWN

With your MAGIC WAND
Mode = Replace
Match Mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0
Feather = 0
Antialias = UNchecked
Sample Merged = UNCHECKED
PSP9 - X3: Check CONTIGUOUS
PSPX
- X3: There is no " Sample Merged"
PSPX - X3: Use all layers = UNChecked


and while depressing your SHIFT KEY...

Select the OUTER area of the shape




ACTIVATE RASTER 1

EFFECTS >>> TEXTURE EFFECTS >>> BLINDS



DESELECT



Open up the Beach template-----Laufey image in your PSP workspace

Right click on the Title Bar and select COPY from the options

Right click on the Title Bar of your tag image
and select PASTE AS NEW LAYER from the options.



Select your DEFORMATION tool
Mode = SCALE
use default settings

PSPX-X3:Select your PICK tool


Drag the sides of your image out so all the nodes are visible.
Drag the centre left and centre right nodes in towards the
edge of the shape.



Then drag the centre bottom node up as shown below



Click the RESET RECTANGLE arrow

Select your MOVER tool to disengage the DEFORMATION/PICK Tool

LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE


Open up the H@nne_poupool image in your PSP workspace

Right click on the Title Bar and select COPY from the options

Right click on the Title Bar of your tag image
and select PASTE AS NEW LAYER from the options.


IMAGE >>> RESIZE = 60%
Ensure "Resize all layers" is UNCHECKED
Resample using WEIGHTED AVERAGE


ADJUST >>> SHARPNESS >>> SHARPEN

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> INNER BEVEL



EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> DROP SHADOW
Use the same settings
Click OK


Reposition with your MOVER tool



ACTIVATE THE MERGED LAYER

Open up the
MB_Boris-bathing_AP_9-03~pjs
image in your PSP workspace

Right click on the Title Bar and select COPY from the options

Right click on the Title Bar of your tag image
and select PASTE AS NEW LAYER from the options.


IMAGE >>> RESIZE = 25%
Ensure "Resize all layers" is UNCHECKED
Resample using WEIGHTED AVERAGE


ADJUST >>> SHARPNESS >>> SHARPEN

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> DROP SHADOW
Use the same settings
Click OK


Reposition with your MOVER tool




Open up the MB_Boris-bathing_AP_9-03~pjs image in your PSP workspace

Right click on the Title Bar and select COPY from the options

Right click on the Title Bar of your tag image
and select PASTE AS NEW LAYER from the options.


Reposition with your MOVER tool



EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> DROP SHADOW
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 1
Colour = Black
Opacity = 70
Blur = 0

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 1
Click OK

LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE

LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Flood fill with gold pattern

EFFECTS >>> EDGE EFFECTS >>> ENHANCE

SELECTIONS >>> SELECT ALL
SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 4
EDIT >>> CLEAR
DESELECT

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> DROP SHADOW
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 1
Colour = Black
Opacity = 70
Blur = 0

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 1
Click OK

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> DROP SHADOW



LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE ALL (Flatten)
