This was created using PSP9 but can be adapted for other versions of PSP.

You will need the following to complete this tutorial

Materials

Same font ( KF Bugs.ttf ) as in previous page of tutorial

Anastasia_SL13
ivytile008
Save to your PSP Patterns folder

Plugins

CATTERPILLAR

In your MATERIALS PALETTE
Load SOLID BLACK in your foreground
Load SOLID WHITE in your background


Open a new image 600 x 600
Transparent background
PSPX: Colour Depth = 8bits/channel

Select your TEXT tool
Locate the KF Bugs font
Use these settings
Line style = SOLID



Position your cursor near the centre bottom of the blank image
and enter the letter " L "

DESELECT



In your MATERIALS PALETTE
Load the ' Anastasia_SL13 ' pattern in your foreground



Load the ' ivytile008 ' pattern in your background



With your MAGIC WAND
Mode = Replace
Match Mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0
Feather = 0
Antialias = UNchecked
Sample Merged = UNCHECKED
PSP9/X: Check CONTIGUOUS
PSPX: There is no " Sample Merged"
PSPX: Use all layers = UNChecked

Select the underbody of the 'bug'

SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 2

LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER
LAYERS >>> ARRANGE >>> MOVE DOWN

Flood fill with the foreground pattern

DESELECT


Choose your SELECTION TOOL
Selection Type = CIRCLE
Mode = Replace
Feather = 0
Antialias = Checked

Draw a circle over the face of the bug



EDIT >>> CLEAR
DESELECT

EFFECTS >>> EDGE >>> ENHANCE

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> INNER BEVEL





Activate Raster 1

With your MAGIC WAND - same settings - and using your SHIFT key.

Select the upper body segments

SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 2

Activate Raster 2

Flood fill with the background pattern

EFFECTS >>> EDGE >>> ENHANCE

EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> INNER BEVEL
Same settings

DESELECT



In your MATERIALS PALETTE
Load SOLID BLUE ' #78acc2 ' in your foreground

LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE

With your MAGIC WAND - same settings

Select the face

SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 2

LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER
LAYERS >>> ARRANGE >>> MOVE DOWN

Flood fill with the SOLID BLUE

SELECTIONS >>> INVERT

EFFECTS >>> PLUGINS >>> EYE CANDY 3 >>> DROP SHADOW




DESELECT

LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE

Save as .psp image

There's a heap of BUGS in this font that you can create using
patterns/gradients/textures etc..
to your individual taste.
