CHRISTMAS FRAME 3

You will need the following to complete this tutorial

XF3 Materials: HERE

Extract the "jb-s063_gold.bmp" to your PSP Patterns folder

Extract the "LSgoldstencils329193.psp" and "santa_teddies2.jpg"
to a folder on your computer

********************************

Load the GOLD pattern in your foreground



and SOLID GREEN ( #008000 ) in your background

Open a new image 450 x 400 ... Transparent background

Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Flood fill with GREEN

With your SELECTION TOOL
Selection Type = Ellipse
Feather = 0
Antialias = CHECKED

Startng at position 225, 200 draw an ellipse..... finishing at position 355, 360

Hit your DELETE key




Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Go to LAYERS >>> ARRANGE >>> MOVE DOWN
Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 3

Flood fill with gold pattern

Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 7
Hit your DELETE key

Go to your LAYER PALETTE
Highlight and activate Raster 1

Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 25
Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT
Hit your DELETE key



Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Go to LAYERS >>> ARRANGE >>> MOVE DOWN
Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT
Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 3
Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT

Flood fill with gold pattern

Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT
Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 7
Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT
Hit your DELETE key



Go to your LAYER PALETTE
Highlight and activate Raster 2

Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Flood fill with GREEN
DESELECT

Choose your SELECTION TOOL then click on the CUSTOM SELECTION symbol
Enter these co-ordinates



Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT
Flood fill the selected areas with the gold pattern
Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 3
Hit your DELETE key

Flood fill the selected areas with the GREEN
Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 3

Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D Effects >>> Drop Shadow
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 1
Colour = Black
Opacity = 65
Blur = 3.7

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 1
Click OK



Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 3
Flood fill the selected areas with the gold pattern
Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 3
Hit your DELETE key


Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D Effects >>> Drop Shadow
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 1
Colour = Black
Opacity = 65
Blur = 3.7

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 1
Click OK

Flood fill the selected areas with the GREEN

Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> INNER BEVEL






DESELECT

Go to your LAYER PALETTE
Highlight and activate Raster 2

Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D EFFECTS >>> INNER BEVEL
Same settings

Go to your LAYER PALETTE
Highlight and activate Raster 3

With your MAGIC WAND
Select the area outside the large ellipse

Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> FEATHER = 3
Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT

Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D Effects >>> Drop Shadow
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 1
Colour = Black
Opacity = 65
Blur = 3.7

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 1
Click OK

DESELECT



Go to LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE
Go to ADJUST >>> SHARPNESS >>> SHARPEN (Twice)


Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Open up the "LSgoldstencils329193" tube

Right click on the Title Bar and select COPY from the options

Go to your frame image .... Right click on the Title Bar
and select PASTE AS NEW SELECTION from the options.

Go to IMAGE >>> RESIZE = 70%
Ensure "Resize all layers" is UNCHECKED

Position in top right corner of frame



Right click on the Title Bar of your frame image and select COPY from the options

DESELECT

Right click on the Title Bar of your frame image
and select PASTE AS NEW SELECTION from the options.

Go to IMAGE >>> MIRROR

Position in bottom left corner of frame




Go to LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE

Go to IMAGE >>> CANVAS SIZE



With your MAGIC WAND
Match Mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0
Feather = 0
Sample Merged = UNCHECKED

Select the transparent area surrounding your frame
Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

Flood fill with GREEN

Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D Effects >>> Drop Shadow
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 1
Colour = Black
Opacity = 65
Blur = 3.7

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 1
Click OK

DESELECT

Go to SELECTIONS >>> SELECT ALL
Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> CONTRACT = 3
Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT

Flood fill the selected area with the gold pattern

Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D Effects >>> Drop Shadow
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 1
Colour = Black
Opacity = 65
Blur = 3.7

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 1
Click OK

DESELECT
Go to LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE

With your MAGIC WAND
Select the centre transparent area

Go to SELECTIONS >>> MODIFY >>> EXPAND = 2
Go to SELECTIONS >>> INVERT
Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER
Go to LAYERS >>> ARRANGE >>> MOVE DOWN

Go to EFFECTS >>> 3D Effects >>> Drop Shadow
Vertical & Horizontal offsets = 6
Colour = Black
Opacity = 40
Blur = 14.8

Repeat Drop Shadow effect changing
Vertical & Horizontal Offsets to - ( minus ) 6
Click OK

DESELECT
Go to LAYERS >>> MERGE >>> MERGE VISIBLE


Save your frame as a .psp image

Your frame is now ready for any image you may choose.

Resize to suit
