You will need the following to complete this tutorial


'DropCaps' font
download
Download and extract to your WINDOWS\FONTSfolder.
OR
TIP: I keep extra fonts in a separate folder called
"Extra Fonts" (original...huh *S*)
Then when I wish to use one I click on it to open it
and then minimise it. This way it will show up in my list of fonts
when I use the Text tool in PSP without taking up valuable space
in my PSP program.

'pomegranate1815' pattern
download
Download and extract to your PSP Patterns folder.

'Pretty' tube
download
Download and extract to a folder on your computer.
Or use a tube of your own.


SOLID COLOUR USED
PINK ( #F4B0A8 )
GREEN ( #919676 )

Go to your MATERIALS PALETTE

Load the 'pomegranate1815' pattern into your
upper (foreground) box
SCALE =50
ANGLE = 45

Load the SOLID PINK into your background box
Load the SOLID GREEN into your foreground box
as shown below

Locate your 'DropCaps' font
If you saved it in a separate folder
Click on it to OPEN
and minimise it to your Task Bar.

Go to your COLOUR PALETTE
Close your upper (foreground) box



Create a new image 400 x 400
Transparent background

Go to LAYERS >>> NEW RASTER LAYER

If you don't already have "Rulers" showing
Go to VIEW >>>RULERS


Select your TEXT TOOL
Use these settings
Type in Upper Case letter "O"



Click OK

Follow these instructions:
1: Drag the centre TOP node to 20 pixels from the top of your image.
2: Drag the centre BOTTOM node to 20 pixels from the bottom of your image.




It should now look like this



Go to LAYERS >>> CONVERT TO RASTER LAYER

Go to your LAYER PALETTE
Right click on Raster 2
and select DELETE from the options

Click on Raster 3 to activate

With your MAGIC WAND
Match Mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0
Feather = 1
Sample Merged = UNCHECKED


Select the centre 'oval'
Go to EDIT >>> CLEAR
DESELECT

Select the inner transparent sections
while holding down your SHIFT KEY.
Don't miss any *S*

I've darkened the sample below
to make the sections easier to see and have indicated SOME
of the sections.
