A LETTER FROM PAULINE
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH
14 September 2003
This is a photo of Pauline and her
daughter rshortly before she went to
prison.
This is also a photo of a naive lady
who should have had better support
from her executive members of One
Nation.
*********************************************
Pauline Hanson was jailed last month
after a 23 day jury trial. She and
her co-accused, David Ettridge were
found guilty of fraudulently
registering the party and both were
sentenced
to three years jail.
She was also found guilty of
dishonestly claiming almost $500,000
in electoral funding after the 1998
Queensland election and sentenced to
three years, to be served
concurrently.
Last Tuesday, Queensland's Court of
Appeal reserved it's decision on her
latest bail application. A date for
the decision is yet to be fixed.
Might I add.... she paid back the
$500,000 long before
she was charged. Consider the fact
that a political party needs money to
operate... and in this day and age
$500,000 is a piddling amount! She
didn't dishonestly claim the money
from the
Electoral Commission.... they're
basing the fraud on the fact that the
party wasn't registered legally. SO
WHY didn't someone at the Electoral
Commission refuse the funding on this
basis??
I'll tell you why!!!!
Because the current political parties
were scared of the impact she had.
They were mortified by the amount of
votes her party got. Their seats were
in jeopardy!! So they had to get rid
of her
by fair means or foul....
"foul" won.
You can be assured they'll make sure
a date isn't set before Christmas so
she has to spend
Christmas in prison instead of with
her family.
*********************************************
This is her letter which she sent
from prison to a radio announcer
(Alan Jones)
who has supported her fro the day she
created One Nation.
*********************************************
"Dear Alan,
It's hard to know where to begin. I
am still trying to come to terms with
where I am.
Since the first day I hit the
political scene you have always given
me a fair go, even on many occassions
when everyone was against me you
still stood by me.
In so many ways that in itself has
given me the strength to keep going,
along with thousands of Australians
who have never given up believing in
me and what I wanted for them and our
country.
I don't and will not feel sorry for
myself. My sorrow is for the men and
women who fought for our country,
sacrificed their lives so that we may
maintain a way of life and what it
means to be Australian.
Seeing politicians destroy this and
people's lives over the years based
on the wants of the greedy and the
power hungry kept me hoping that I
may be able to make a difference.
I cried (illegible word) every time I
heard a farmer lose his farm, or
another factory close up and see it
move offshore to employ other people
to make the products that we
Australians would one day buy back.
Family breakdowns and children given
rights in some cases where they carry
no responsibility or have no idea of
life's dangers and need the help and
guidance of family.
Till the day I die I will always
maintain my innocence.
I have never done anything to deceive
the Australian people, the members of
Pauline Hanson's One Nation or the
Electoral Commission.
People from all over Australia,
England and New Zealand have written
to me. I have received hundreds and
hundreds of letters and read every
one of them.
I cannot write to all because I am
only allowed $50 a week to buy my
essentials, being toiletries, coffee,
some food items, stamps and
stationery. They do not allow
self-addressed
envelopes or stamps in. I have to buy
them.
It is impossible for me to express my
deep appreciation to all those who
have supported me in my time of need.
I am a very proud woman and
Australian. I know I don't belong
here but this experience has taught
me a tremendous lot.
My life, and what I had to offer
while in politics was based on life's
experiences. This is another one of
those experiences. I have learned a
lot from this.
It's a pity we can't make this a
prerequisite for some of our
politicians before they enter
Parliament (Judges also) then they
may not make some of the decisions
that drive some
people to commit crimes.
I have started writing a book and
would like to discuss with you
sometime in the near future when I am
out of here. I would like to seek
your advice because I value your
opinion very much.
My heartfelt thanks always.
Yours sincerely
Pauline Hanson
PS: A lot of people wish me luck.
I don't need luck, the truth will set
me free.
Also my son Adam wrote a song for me
called Innocence, he also sings it. I
am so proud of him. He has done it as
a fund raiser for my legal costs.
If you could mention the song and
where to buy it, it would be very
much appreciated.
I better let you go, you are a very
busy man.
Thanks again."
