Viewing JPEGs & GIFs in Windows 7

------------------------------------

To do JPEG click on start> default programs >associate a file type with a program.

In the resultant list, click on the JPEG (or jpg) extension...
then if it isn’t showing Windows Photo Viewer, click on “change program” in the upper right...
then you’ll be able to select Windows Photo Viewer > click OK.

GIF is another matter...
for some reason Windows 7 won’t display gif properly unless you have a viewer called Windows 7 Gif viewer...
it is free... here is the link
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Viewers/GIF-Viewer.shtml

Download and install, then when you double click on a gif file, you’ll get a message...
(for some reason I can’t get a screen capture of this but will have to write it)... the message says

"User Account Control
Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer
Program name... rundll.exe
Publisher... unknown
File origin... hard drive on this computer"

Just click OK, it is quite safe to do so.. and your gif will open in the viewer, with the animations working.

If the message annoys you too much, you can change the settings in the User Account Control,
but I have never worried about that.
(by the way, making changes in the UAC can sometime help with plugin problems in PSP 13)

Cheers
Win
